Optimising Gift Aid Revenues at World Wildlife Fund UK
WWF UK is a charity with a passion for safeguarding the natural world. As well as protecting endangered wildlife species, a significant part of their work involves campaigning against climate change and promoting lifestyle change to ease pressure on natural resources.

Many WWF supporters maximise their donations through Gift Aid, allowing the charity to reclaim basic rate tax paid on money donated by UK tax-payers. This necessitates the processing and storage of large numbers of signed gift aid forms from donors. WWF were finding that the processing and attaching of these signed forms to their central supporter database was increasingly time consuming and complicated.
WWF considered a number of options before turning to Arena’s mstore software for document management. Peta Thompson, head of supporter care, said of the Arena Group; “we were really impressed by Arena’s professionalism. They quickly understood our needs before presenting various potential solutions. mstore has been tightly integrated with our existing supporter database but without the cost and complexity of involving the supplier of the database software. This meant it was quick to install and get started with.
"We had a batch of 22,000 forms that we would previously have paid for a third party to process. However, we find mstore so quick and easy to use that we have saved money by processing the paperwork in-house. We are so pleased with the way mstore has helped us to address the issues surrounding our Gift Aid forms that we are now actively looking to roll it into other areas of our business, including supporter correspondence."
Documents stored in mstore are validated against the supporter database, enabling our administrators to quickly reference every document related to a specific supporter. This means queries and donations are dealt with very efficiently, with no need to search for paper documents or query the database separately. The system also allows us to import declaration forms from a variety of other sources, including agencies with which WWF works closely.”
